"The main problem with criticism of Catholic devotion to Mary is the basic Protestant mindset. Because Catholics venerate Mary, non-Catholics assume that this devotion must take the place of proper devotion to the Lord Jesus. They see the whole question in terms of either/or when it is really both/and." -Dwight Longenecker

I wish you would have commented on this quote. How long have you been Catholic, and what were your feelings about Mary, before joining the Church ... and how do you feel about her now.
Merci for all the thought provoking notes. I really enjoy reading how your mind evolves.

Isn't Protestantism just another form of relativity? They promote "winds of doctine" produced in their own mind and it becomes truth for them.

In refferance to Anonymous's comment.
I think there is some truth to you'r comment but only in you're first sentance. The majority of protastants are honestly seeking God. Honestly seeking truth. To sugest they produce doctern in their mind, then believe it is truth, takes out of context there motivation to serve OUR Lord. They worship the same God we do.
Yes some of there theology has to do with relativism. But most protestants: 1 don't relize it. 2 didn't have anything to do with the development of there doctern.

To answer Macile,
The only justace I could do in commenting on Dwight Longenecker's quote is standing up and clapping my hands. He points out it's not an "either/or" issue.
I've been Catholic all my life. Well...maby not the first month or so.
How do I feel about Mary? I feel blessed more than I deserve to have the Mother of God "Theotokos" for my mother too. I truly believe Mary's intersession had alot to do with my comming back home to Rome.
